The Aliens Are Invading - Run For Your Lives

Another short post because I am buried inn things to do. I have ti comment in the latest immigration lunacy.
You would think that Attila the Hun was massed at our border with at least a million heavily armed troops. Our President is threatening to over ride the immigration laws, even Constitutional rules, by executive order. We are rushing 1000s of troops to deal with them.
Well, there are a few 1000 immigrants, poor, some kids, some not  at all well, walking. Slowly. They are about 2 months away and may not even make it this far.
But boy are we worried and we are prepared and it is all a bunch of nonsense. All of this is just a political game. It is all about power and it is a waste of time and money and every one who is wringing their hands and getting hysterical about this should be ashamed of their selves.
Just chill out and stop all of your lunacy

Moral Ambiguity

Sometimes, often in fact, it is almost impossible to know what to do. What is right for some is horribly wrong for others.
This leaps to mind when witnessing the looming border crisis. There is no denying the plight if the wretchedly poor streaming toward Texas. Were I a citizen of Honduras, I would probably be among them. It is a heart breaking sight and anyone with an ounce of compassion wants to help them.
Bit, the USA is very shaky at the moment. Some economic improvement is evident, but the cost of that has been great. We are at each others throats over silly, nit picking nonsense and no one, on either side seems willing to give an inch. Most do not even want to talk about the possibility of giving an inch.
On top of that, there is still much poverty, economic, emotional and spiritual, in the Land. We are still not even dealing effectively wit war Veteran's issues. racial tensions are always on the edge of boiling over and crime is a major problem everywhere.
We are not ready to take in a whole slew of impoverished immigrants. Yet, there they are. What do we do? President Trump has vowed to srop them. How? If by force, then there will be bloodshed and you will gear cries of outrage, well justified, not only across the USA but around the World. Do we process them legally? Sorry, we do not have enough judges and no where near enough housing to hold them as they await hearings. By the way, courts have ruled that they are definitely, Constitutionally, entitled to these hearings.
Get my point. There is no good answer, no easy right or wrong. Such moral ambiguity is the essence of how the World works.
I have no solutions, but I can tell you that there is a way to prevent the constant occurrence of such issues. A lot of these problems in South and Central America have happened because of the sorry way we have dealt with that region. For many, many years we have stomped on their poor people to keep tyrants in power because those thugs dealt favorably with big American corporations, especially in terms of agriculture and mining, (think United Fruit and the copper mining in Chile)
Most of what is happening now is the result of our history of meddling in other Nation's business. As I have often said, the chickens always come home to roost.
What happens at the border will not likely be good for anyone. It is a sad and sorry event.

America - Watch those Chickens

I turned on the news when I got up this morning, (I have got to stop doing that) and discovered that more cops were executed. Trump is still considering his sworn enemy Mitt Romney for his Cabinet, is still considering the recently politically disgraced Chris Christy, and the rapidly aging Rudy Giuliani. Obama is apparently now on the verge of losing it as his beloved legacy is about to be wiped out and is vowing that he will speak out as he sees fit ( which means he will be picking at Trump).

The Clintons and their distraught supporters are still trying to blame everyone but themselves for their disastrously incompetent campaign. Bernie Sanders is promising that he will be a nightmare to Trump and Nancy Pelosi is holding on to her political life by the skin of her teeth.

Russia is almost desperately modernizing its weaponry, possibly a pretty good move since America has become bizarrely touchy about Putin's activities. The European Union is breaking down. French are ousting President Sarkozy. Illegal immigrants are flooding the United States to get a toehold before the border wars start and a bunch of Mayors are set to defy Federal Government orders and remain safe havens for illegal immigrants. Oh, I almost forgot. Those demonstrations over a pipe land going across Native American land are getting very tense and are now being called riots.

My point? Okay. Every bit of unpleasantness we, and the rest of the lunatic asylum we have made out of this lovely little planet, is a direct result of past activities. You cannot duck the past. The lessons of history must be learned and the mess cleaned up. Otherwise, it will keep haunting and will get worse, until things get disastrous. Sorry, that's just how things work and neither you nor I can change that.

Buddhists and Hindus call it karma. Jesus said that as you sow, so shall you reap. I prefer an old country saying. It's just the chickens coming home to roost. Well, I hear a few hens clucking and some roosters starting to crow. Those chickens are settling in, so for the next few weeks, or months, or years, watch the chickens.

How Can America Take In Immigrants?

It seems that the Attorney Generals of several states have decided that if the Federal government says they're taking in immigrants from Syria, Iraq, or any other spot on Earth, they must accommodate them. This is true. I was living in S. Florida during the Mariel boat lift and President Carter ordered the State to deal with it. We did, at great economic cost and with a huge amount of social upheaval. It was not a pleasant time, to say the least.

The Federal government does not have to accept these refugees but it is clear that they are going to, and it is an awful idea. Let's put aside, for a moment, the differences in culture, which are vast. Let's even forget the possibility that we will be admitting ISIL trained terrorists.

In case you haven't noticed, we are broke. The US owes an unthinkably large debt, trillions of dollars and growing by the second. We cannot pay the interest on this and every few months we have to go through a Congressional crisis to raise the debt ceiling just to stay operational. At that point, the Federal Reserve issues more cash and each time, that cash gets more and more worthless. In short, the US is broke and yet we still keep spending money at an astounding rate.

In spite of all this spending, much of which is wasted, flushed down the toilet, in absurd military adventures, many, many folks in this Nation are in dire straits We are determined to bring political change to nation after nation despite not being able to change our own politics to something that at least vaguely resembles reality.

In this Country, by last count, there are about 500000 homeless people. Any who still think of the homeless as a bunch of lazy bums, as winos and junkies, may find it enlightening to know that 125000 of them are children. In addition, an enormous number are veterans who served in these useless wars. Our politics has ruined their lives and we have cast them aside like yesterday's garbage.

On top of this, many of the Nations elderly and disabled are living in squalor and have little hope of improvement. One in five kids tonight will go to bed not knowing where their next meal will come from and those lucky enough to get that meal will often be stuffed with cheap carbohydrates instead of the proteins and vitamins they need to function and grow.

We do not need to take in more people who cannot care for themselves. It is that simple and I do not want to hear ever again how it is our moral duty to do so. The neighbors of these poor folks are the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, the members of the United Arab Emirates, all nations that are fantastically wealthy, yet they will not take in these people who are their fellow Muslims. I thought one of the 5 Pillars of Islam was charity. I see no such charity from those hypocritically wealthy Arab nations, and, again, I must say, we are just too broke and too overtaxed to take them in.

But, I most likely am just talking to the wind because the fools who run this country are going to do what they are going to do and the welfare of the American people be damned. It's going to be a strange few years.
